Madam Pele and Scout’s Return

May 16, 2008 · 7 Comments

Aloha all.  That steam could be rising from the top of my head rather than a lava finger from Madam Pele running into the ocean.  Oh i’m back all right…back to my husband and landlords fouling up on communication and decisions which resulted in my dog being given away while i was gone.

I’m fuming.  And no one will budge in giving me info so i might get her back.  I get apologies…’we feel bads’…and ‘accept it and get over it’.  No one is wiling to track her down and say a mistake was made.  This comes on the heels of me having done research to discover that Cinder could have qualified as my emotional support dog and flown to Hawaii with me next year….and Hawaii State relaxing their laws so she wouldn’t have to have been in quarantine.

Now ain’t that a slap in the face?  And all it would have taken was ONE person to phone me and consult with me about her destiny.  One person asking me about MY dog.  Didn’t happen.

So, excuse me while I continue grieving and getting some of this anger and upset out of me.  Aloha and all that.

    Hey Scout,

I’m glad to see you are home. I’ve missed you. Okay, to be honest, I’ve missed the Famous Stupid People contest.

I am really sorry about Cinder. I hope it can all get sorted out for you with a happy ending.

    OH NOOOOOOOOOO!

That’s horrible. Really, really horrible. I am so sorry you had to come back to this…

I’ll give you room to grieve…

Welcome back, Scout. Good thing you didn’t come back 4 weeks ago when we were ass-deep in snow… I’m not kidding!

What happened to your dog? Why did she get given away? This is awful! Dogs are family, it’s like having one of your kids kidnapped! Any idea where she might be? What a drag.

    But it’s good that you’re back :)

    Welcome back, Scout!

Sorry to hear all the drama surrounding Cinder. Returning home after being away for so long is stressful enough without a terrible surprise like that. I’ll be hoping for the best!

hey JJ, hey Mark! it was a case of severe miscommunication and a stressed out husband (hence the misscommunication). he was going by last year’s agreements when we were going to move off island and would have to give up my dog.

HOWEVER, things changed. i gave her to the landlady for while i was in hawaii, and mr. scout thought i was giving Cinder to her. NO! the landlady couldn’t deal with a dog afterall, so mr. scout was phoned and DIDN’T THINK to call me….so the landlords gave her away with mr. scout’s permission.

mr. scout later admitted to his error but neither he nor the landlords have been willing to go to the new people and say, ‘we’re sorry, a mistake was made’….and i’m not being told where she is.

    harumph, to say the least.

this comes on the heels of my doing research to find that hawaii has changed it’s regulations on out of state and country dogs (no more quarantine), and that Cinder could qualify as an emotional support dog and the airlines have to fly her for free (on a seat beside me, in fact).

if anyone had bothered to check with me they would have seen i could take Cinder with me to Hawaii from now on…..however.

so, ya, it sucks. i think what sucks the most is that a mistake was made and no one has the balls to suck it up and follow through. that’s the worst part.

anyways, mr. scout and i are splitting up, and so life goes…perhaps the whole Cinder thing was just apart of evolution to move us on to where we should be next. this won’t exclude the grieving process, and things are amicable.
