Merry Monarch Festival

Who knows if my first attempt at posting a youtube will work!!!!

Anyways, this is from the Merry Monarch Festival which is THE event in Hawaii, it’s a hula event…people come from round the world to see this. The particular clip I chose is the closest to hula pre-contact. Unlike the hula you may be used to , this demonstrates the power and strength of the chanting and movements….all was not ‘wavy’ and ukele before the europeans….slowly it got watered down because the missionaries, of course , just didn’t think it apporpriate. Lucky things like this stayed underground so it could be revived when the time was right.

Don’t ask me about the blue and white the kane’s (men) are wearing….looks like some costumer got carried away

I’m back on track to the Hawaii I love and is abundance for all. Whew.

The Further Adventures of Scout…

Anyways I’m doing a housesit now under the most bizarre circumstances with the oddest landlords in the world. A Hawaiian sister’s best friend’s son was in an accident and is in a coma at the hospital in Honolulu. We came to feed the seven puppies, four dogs, two cats and three kittens. Luckily the two horses were moved to neighbours.

Maybe odd isn’t the word for the landlady and her daughter. How about cruel? First we caught the daughter, a middle aged woman, in the house and she’d put a lock on the woman’s bedroom door saying she did so to protect valuables. Right. Basically the woman’s only valuables are her saddles and tack (they ain’t in the bedroom). One morning I woke up to find the daughter at the kitchen table having coffee. Hmmm.

It goes on, and we call the daughter ‘Top Secret’ as she was in the military and claims she had access to top secret info. More like she was stationed on radioactive bases cause her mind ain’t quite with it and her body is 25 years older then it should be.

‘Top Secret’ likes to stir things up and tell lies…her old mother believes her, so while this poor woman is in Honolulu with her critical condition son, the sheriff comes around to serve notice of eviction, saying the rent hasn’t been paid. From the reciepts we’ve seen it looks like the rent is up to snuff. Who says ‘evil’ doesn’t lurk in the hearts of anyone?

I went and talked with the landlady but she wouldn’t listen and said it will be dealt with in court. Yup, you got that right because just like every fuckwad politician, corporation and common person around these days, I’d say people are slitting their own throats with their greed, bigotry, cruelty and whatnot. The pendulum is slowly swinging and we’ll probably see a few more years of heavy duty shit flying, but seems like more and more are paying attention and grasping the truth, which is all right under our big fat noses.

As my kahuna friend would say, ‘We are the evidence, not the crime’.

Enough, I’m going swimming tomorrow! BTW, haven’t had internet access lately…obviously.
